Welcome to VegMin Learning Society

VegMin Learning Society is a non-profit organization funded by Alberta Advanced Education, Community Programs.

VegMin Learning Society Council consists of agencies and members of the community who are dedicated to lifelong learning and offering quality non-credit courses in Vegreville and the County of Minburn.

If you would like to become a member of the Council and help maintain a wide variety of learning opportunities for adults in this area, please contact us.

English Language Learners: attend classes or 1:1 tutoring
Citizenship Preparation Classes: we are taking names for the next session
Instructors required for the following: Cooking (French, Japanese, Italian, etc.); Tablescapes; Orienteering; Cake Decorating; Floral Arranging; Stained Glass; & Culinary Artistry.
Volunteer Tutors Required: Tutors are required to assist learners in various areas (English, reading, writing, numeracy, computers & technology).

Citizenship Preparation Classes

October 2008 VegMin Learning brought one to the area.

This portal www.aroundvegreville.com is for non-profit, volunteer organizations within the area to be able to have a web presence at a reasonable cost.

Education: Foundational Skills Upgrading

News: tuition tax credits

We are now able to provide official tax receipts for learners to claim the fees paid to VegMin Learning Society for the purposes of the tuition, education and textbook tax credits provided that the fees toal more than $100 and qualify for tuition expenses. Additionally the learners must be 16 years before the end of the year and the course/program supplied must provide the learner with sufficient skills to enable them to work or improve their skills in a recognized occupation.

(We can not guarantee that the Canada Revenue Agency will atuomatically accept receipts for all courses or programs offered.)

Business: QuickBooks 2012

In this 4 evening course via webinar technology, you will learn to use QuickBooks accounting software to manage your basic business accounting needs. The course is scheduled for Tuesdays May 22, 29, June 5 & 12 from 6:30 - 8:30 PM and will be held in the computer lab at VegMin Learning Society.

Topics include setting up a company file, invoicing, accounts payable, managing accounts recevables, GST, account reconciliations and basic finacial reporting.No prior experience with QuickBooks is necessary; however, basic computer skills and basic knowledge of bookkeeping responsibilities are helpful. The QuickBooks Premier 2012 Version will be used and each learner will be given a student edition - so they can practice what they've learned.

Computers: Senior's Computers

Are you afraid of computers or do you just want to learn a little bit more?

On Wednesdays from 1-3 PM we have a volunteer tutor on site. He is available to answer any questions you may have or walk you through any problem you might have related to the computer.

There is no charge for this service - donations to our literacy program would be appreciated.

Note: This is a drop-in session, so you do not need to register.
